Invincible: Empowering Women Transforming Africa

The ALADI & Mastercard Foundation UN General Assembly Satellite Event, held on September 22nd, 2024, was a groundbreaking platform dedicated to empowering women in Africa. The event featured a distinguished panel of policymakers, economic experts, and foundation leaders from various countries. Hosted in New York and live-streamed to Nairobi, the discussions unfolded in real-time, enabling rich exchanges between in-person and virtual attendees. The dialogue focused on breaking barriers to women’s empowerment, such as limited access to finance, education, and caregiving support, and highlighted findings from a new Mastercard Foundation report showing that addressing these challenges could unlock $287 billion for Africa and boost GDP by 5% by 2030. Beyond generating valuable insights, the event was action-oriented, encouraging contributions at all levels—from empowering everyday citizens to leveraging the power and influence of policymakers to drive systemic change in their sectors.
